kalinabeatz - time to move (2020)
About.
It is an instrumental hip-hop mini-album. This is my second release in 5 years and the first one as "kalinabeatz". It is not a conceptual record, just some tracks with common mood and sound.
Genre.
Genre tags are instrumental hip-hop, plunderphonics, trip-hop. When I was writing this record I didn't reach for any references, but you might find the final sound similar to Gramatik or Pretty Lights in some ways.
Technical details.
Sample-based production is a key point of the record. It means recycling samples and cuts of other songs or just noises and using these in a different context.
Some sounds you could find there: a song of an american general on (some) holiday, sounds of my own kettle, an Austalian dude practicing viola at home, african drums, a kid playing kalimba in the street, USSR love sonata, japanese jazz, retro synthesizers and many more.
To record the album I used Maschine Mk3 controller, Maschine 2 software and Reaper.
